Farmers & Rural Home Defence

HOME-BASED TRAINING

  • Train where you live: Traditional self-defence classes take place in neutral venues. We train directly on-site at your home or farm, where your family lives, works, and where an actual incident would happen.
  • Make the target hard: We assess your current security, find weak spots, build clear emergency and escape plans, and practice them repeatedly until a soft target becomes a well-prepared one.
  • Communication and close quarters: Reliable communication is mandatory. We also train the family on how to use everyday household items to neutralise a threat if escape is impossible.

EXISTING SECURITY MEASURES

Deterring criminals starts with layer-by-layer protection:

  • Electric fences and detection beams to spot intruders early.
  • Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) for monitoring and evidence.
  • Indoor house dogs: Widely considered by intruders as a top psychological deterrent.
  • Neighbourhood watch / CPF: Visible patrols and active community watches significantly reduce the chance of a targeted home invasion.

MINDSET AND SITUATIONAL AWARENESS

True safety starts in the mind. The Cooper Color Code outlines five levels of mental alertness:

  • Condition White (Unaware): Totally relaxed and distracted (e.g., sleeping, looking at your phone, or daydreaming). Never be in White outside a locked, safe room.
  • Condition Yellow (Relaxed Alert): Calm, present, and actively scanning your environment. This should be your everyday baseline state.
  • Condition Orange (Focused Attention): Something feels wrong or suspicious. You focus on the specific potential threat and plan your next move.
  • Condition Red (Action): The threat is real and confirmed. You execute your pre-planned steps to flee, call for help, or defend your family.
  • Condition Black (Panic/Overload): A complete mental and physical breakdown caused by lack of preparation. Fear freezes you into inaction.
